ARCVic (Anxiety Recovery Centre Victoria) with the support of Alpine Shire Council are presenting a workshop in Mt. Beauty on Tuesday, 27th November from 9.30am – 1pm. at the Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre, 1 Tennis Court Ave., Mt. Beauty.  There is no cost but please book. UKVCA received a request from the Chair of Fly Fish Victoria for support with finding controllers for the National Fly Fishing Championship to be held here in Mt. Beauty, Falls Creek and in the Mitta Valley.  This is a competition over 3 days from 22nd to 24th November.  Controllers will be remunerated and invited to the free dinner/presentation night.

A representative from Alpine Health

Each speaker will be given the opportunity for a brief address and then   questions  from the floor will be addressed.  This will be your opportunity to put your question to any of the above speakers.

All community members are welcome.  Supper is available and this time will give you an opportunity to meet the speakers more informally.

Annually, the Upper Kiewa Valley Community Association discuss the issue of outstanding service provided by an individual or group in our community.  This Award is not always given annually but the topic mentioned by many this year was the Mt. Beauty swimming pool staff and facility.  UKVCA felt a Special Community Award was deserved.  This was presented at the Australia Day celebration in Hydro Park.

presented to Lisa Townsend and the Mount Beauty Pool Team in appreciation of the effort and care she and her team have taken in maintaining the Mount Beauty Pool to an excellent standard for this swim season.

Tawonga South is the Alpine Shire’s 4th largest town.  It has 20+ businesses in its central business district and is the centre for tourism in the Kiewa Valley.  It is the only town in the Alpine Shire without any public toilet facilities.  The petition is for public toilet facilities, parking and a picnic area.

The Upper Kiewa Valley Community Association Inc. (UKVCA) has been circulating petition forms since mid-October and these petition forms are located with many Tawonga South and Mt. Beauty traders and businesses.

UKVCA  NEED MORE SIGNATURES

We currently have several hundred signatures but would like more.  If you are a visitor or a resident of the Upper Kiewa Valley and believe there is a need for public facilities in Tawonga South, please sign the petition as soon as possible.

You will find copies of the petition forms at Tawonga South General Store & PO, Kiwi’s Fruit and Vegetable Market, Rocky Valley Bikes and UKVCA members will be on site outside the Tawonga South PO on Saturday, 30th December, 2017 from 10am to 12 noon  and at the Mt. Beauty Market, Hollonds Street, on Saturday, 6th January, 2018 from 10am to 12 noon.

Please show your support for this project by signing the Petition.  Petition forms will be collected and collated on 8th January and forwarded to the Alpine Shire Council with a formal request for urgent action.

The 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of UKVCA will be held on Thursday, 7th September, 2017.

Venue:  AUDITORIUM@informationcentre, Mt. Beauty.  (next to the Mt. Beauty Visitor Information Centre)

Time:  7.30pm

The current committee welcomes new members.  If you want your say into what happens in the Upper Kiewa Valley, come along.  In the past year UKVCA have worked on issues like:  the West Kiewa Open Space;  getting an official name for Hydro Park;  installing interpretive signs;  publishing Parks Vic. Planned Burns notices;  organising an annual forum where local Alpine Shire Councillors and the local State Member address the group;  organising an annual address by our local Federal member and organising Alpine Shire Council to conduct one of their monthly meetings in Mt. Beauty annually.

Nominations to be on the committee can be received before the date or on the night on the form attached – 2017 AGM Nomination Form.  Print the form and bring it to the meeting.
